Adult psychotherapy geared at parental identity/relationship struggles
Request Service →Parenthood often brings otherwise competent people to their knees as they try to deal with the frustrating behaviors or strained relationship with their child. There is nothing more painful than feeling resentful, hopeless, helpless or depressed when it comes to your parent identity. Perhaps you have already read many parenting books and vowed that you would not react negatively towards your child. Or perhaps your teenager is painfully rejecting you and you vacillate between being trying your hardest to be kind and crying or screaming, making things even worse. Or perhaps you feel like your child is ruining your life as he behaves in a destructive or dangerous manner and you feel frightened or out of control.
In these instances, it is helpful to take time for yourself to reflect on your journey as a parent with someone who really gets how hard it is and who will not judge you for the things you’ve done or not done. One of Dafna’s specialties is helping parents to pause, ground themselves, and focus taking constructive action. Her empathy for parents is deep and unwavering. Yet at the same time, she does not shy away from telling hard truths.
--> Your own family history and how you were raised as a child does affect your parenting today. Dafna will guide you towards some important questions and reflections about how your past influences your relationship with your child.
--> No matter what has happened, you are doing the best you can as a parent and so is your child.
--> You cannot change your child’s behavior and you are not in control of the way they live your life. You can, however, change your behavior. This will go a long way to improving your relationship with your child and making you feel more in control.
Dafna is currently offering short-term therapy consisting of 75 minute sessions, once a week for 5 weeks. The total cost of this package is $1,250 ($250 per session). If you are interested in this service, please
